University of Alabama at Birmingham was established in the mid-1930s as a research university and health care center. It is located in Alabama and currently enrolls more than 18,000 students. The University offers teaching, research, health care and community service. It comprises of the following schools: Arts & Humanities, Business, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Health Professions, Medicine, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Nursing, Optometry, Public Health, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Division of General Studies and the Graduate School.
